Why you should try Dry Brushing

Getting rid of cellulite was probably the initial reason why I tried dry brushing, but after learning how cleansing this ancient Ayurvedic technique is for the lymphatic system, I’ve made it a non-negotiable in my morning routine.

So why do it?

Well your skin is the largest organ so if it’s covered in dead follicles it can’t breathe properly (or do its detoxification thing) which can then cause inflammation and toxicity within the body. Something we definitely don’t want.

So by gently brushing the body you are not only exfoliating the skin and but also stimulating the lymphatic system; which is your body’s natural detox system. It also increases oxygen flow, boosts circulation, reduces the appearance of cellulite while helping your body remove waste.

And it’s super simple to do! Just get yourself a natural firm bristle dry brush. Then before your morning shower gently brush your skin, starting with your arms and working your way down to your feet, always brushing in long, slow stokes towards your heart.

For the short time it takes, it’s well worth the benefits plus it’s like a 5 min express self-spa! As blood flow and circulation are stimulated you usually also get a lovely little morning energy boost. But aside from that, I know for me it also helps me to slow down in the morning instead of defaulting into rushing mode while getting ready.

The other day I noticed my two-year-old try brush her little legs with her baby brush, which made me giggle. Ayurveda baby style!
